Augustine

2018 intake

Augustine is studying French at university, A teachers’ strike during her second year meant that the university fell a year behind. She is now in her fifth year for a three-year diploma. She hopes to graduate in this year.

When we started supporting Augustine she was living in extreme poverty with her mother, sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Her father had died eight years previously and none of her six brothers had been working.

Scroll forward to 2023. Augustine is now married to a man she met at university who is a French teacher. They have an income for the first time in their lives. They also have a daughter Arienne, age one.
